Deontay Wilder was cautious, but emerged victorious after his vicious right hand stopped his challenger, Gerald Washington in the fifth round.

Wilder still appeared to be suffering from his hand and bicep injuries in his right hand. And there is still a possibility of a unification fight against IBF title-holder Anthony Joshua and WBO champion Joseph Parker later in the year.

The Alabama native did not expect his athleticism to be matched by his last minute replacement for Andrzej Wawrzyk, Gerald Washington, who caused him problems earlier by evading his punches.

Wilder was better in the fourth round, as he landed a left to the body abandoning his quest to hit the head.

He put an end to it all in the fufth roundround, when his right hand connected with his head and followed it with his right as Washington’s guard faltered.

Washington beat the count , but before he could stand , Wilder unleashed a flurry of hooks that forced the referee to call a halt.
