Roger Federer’s first loss of 2017 is a shock, as World No 116 Evgeny Donskoy sends him packing at the Dubai Tennis Championships.
Donskoy was relaxed as he beat the 18-time Grand Slam champion 3-6 6-7 6-7 in the second round of the championship.
The third set tie-break was the greatest shock ever, as Federer led 5-1, but the Russian tennis star won six straight points to win the match.
The former World No. 1, who held three match points in the second set, was subdued in defeat:
“There were so many chances, I’m trying to digest everything.”
Donskoy will face seventh seed Lucas Pouille in the quarter-finals.
