President Muhammadu Buhari has received seven Nigerian governors who travelled to London to visit him on Tuesday, July 25, 2017 – more than 80 days after he left the country for medical attention.

The president, who can be seen visibly in high spirit, had announced the meeting on Tuesday, while photos of the meeting were circulated on Wednesday.

This is coming barely days after leaders of the All Progressives Congress and some governors, including Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State, met with the President in London.

The delegation led by the Chairman of Governors Forum, Abdulaziz Yari has Governors of Ebonyi State, Dave Umahi, Umar Gandoje of Kano State, Kassim Shettima of Borno State, the Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom who has been out of the country for about two weeks, Governor Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom and Abiola Ajumobi of Oyo state as members.

His media aides, Femi Adesina and Shehu Garba, had told State House correspondents that the governors would meet with President Buhari by 3pm and hold a series of discussions with him.

Reacting to why Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State was not selected, Adesina said the presidency had no hand in the selection of the delegates to London.

“The selection was by the governors forum and you will see that the delegation is headed by governor Yari who is chairman of that forum. So that question should go to the forum,” he said.
