Tottenham are set to make their first signing of the summer with the capture of Southampton goalkeeper Paulo Gazzaniga, according to The Sun.
Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino needs a replacement for Spain under-21 keeper Paul Lopez, who has returned to Espanyol after spending last season on loan at Spurs.
He believes Gazzaniga can provide competition for Michel Vorm, the deputy to club captain Hugo Lloris.
Pochettino and Gazzaniga both hail from the town of Murphy, in Argentina, and the manager knows the 25-year-old from his time at Southampton.
Last season Gazzaniga was loaned out to Rayo Vallecano in Spain where he got games under his belt.
Saints boss Mauricio Pellegrino was expected to listen to offers for him this summer, with two years left on the keepers’ contract.
And Spurs have emerged front of the queue for the ex-Gillingham keeper as Poch needs genuine competition to fight on four fronts.
