Leicester have appealed to FIFA in a bid to finally sign Adrien Silva, according to the Daily Telegraph.
The Foxes agreed a £22m deal for the 28-year-old midfielder with Sporting Lisbon on Deadline Day, but had to request a two-hour extension to complete the necessary paperwork.
It is reported that they missed the deadline and Silva has since been in limbo.
The Telegraph say Leicester have now presented their appeal to FIFA, but “remain in the dark over the outcome and have not received any notification on when a decision will be made”.
Silva has been training alone rather than with the rest of Craig Shakespeare’s first team squad as the wrangle has dragged on and the Leicester manager is becoming exasperated at the situation.
Leicester are uncertain how their bid will be received by FIFA although the hope is Silva, who has watched games from the King Power stands, will be available for selection.
However it may be that the Portugal international has to wait until January before he can play for Shakespeare’s side.
