West Ham United and Tottenham Hotspur have been charged by the Football Association for failing to control their players during last weekend’s Premier League match.

A fight broke out between both London rivals in the closing stages of the encounter, with the Hammers pushing for an equaliser but they ended up losing 3-2 on home turf.

Referee Michael Oliver ended up booking five players, including Andy Carroll, Winston Reid, Andre Ayew, Eric Dier and Fernando Llorente.

The melee occurred after Tottenham players, who were already frustrated by the sending-off of Serge Aurier, protested against a foul from Carroll.

Today, the FA released a statement, which read: “West Ham United and Tottenham Hotspur have been charged by The FA following their fixture on Saturday (September 23, 2017).

“It is alleged that in or around the 95th minute of the game, both clubs failed to ensure their players conducted themselves in an orderly fashion. They have until 6pm on September 28, 2017 to respond to the charge.”

Both clubs are now facing hefty fines.
