Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino both scored twice as the Reds romped into a 5-0 lead after 68 minutes with two late away goals coming that could change the semi-final tie.

Liverpool have taken a firm grip on their UEFA Champions League semi-final on Tuesday evening after beating Roma 5-2 in the first leg at Anfield.

Mohamed Salah scored twice and set up goals for Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino, who added another to make it 5-0, before Edin Dzeko and Diego Perotti struck in the space of four minutes late on.

With the goals from the visitors, there is a slim chance of turning the tie round in next Wednesday’s return game in the Italian capital.

The eventual winners will play either Real Madrid or Bayern Munich in next month’s final in Kiev.
