Cristiano Ronaldo says scoring an overhead goal came as a surprise to him, as it was not expected.

The talismanic Real Madrid forward had a hand in all three goals, as Los Blancos won 3-0 against 10-man Juventus, with the Portuguese scoring a brace and assisting Marcelo’s goal.

Ronaldo opened the scoring three minutes into the fixture, but that was a far cry from his 64th minute strike, as the five-time Ballon d’Or winner scored a bicycle kick that drew applause from Juventus fans.

Reflecting on his jaw-dropping goal, Ronaldo – who became the first player in the competition’s history to score in 10 successive appearances, told UEFA.com: “Great goal. What can I say, fantastic.

“I didn’t expect to score that goal but let’s speak about the game.

“I think the game was amazing. We scored three goals against Juve – a great team.

“We played nice and of course I’m happy. I helped the team. I scored two goals. A great night.”
