Militants of dreaded Boko Haram sect are currently engaging the troops of the Nigerian Army in a gun duel in what seems like a heavy siege on Maiduguri, the Borno state capital.
The attack appears to be coming from the Damboa Road axis of the city that is popularly called Polo area.

It is understood that residents of the neighbourhood are currently fleeing their houses.
The shooting, which started at about 6pm, was accompanied with loud explosion.
