Eric Dier has pledged his long-term future to Tottenham, signing a new five-year contract at White Hart Lane.

The 22-year-old midfielder, signed from Sporting Lisbon in 2014, has made a total of 87 appearances since joining the north London club, scoring six goals.

His rise at Spurs has been transferred to the international stage too, with Dier gaining 11 caps for England.

“I’m delighted to have signed a new five-year deal here at Tottenham,” he told the club’s official Twitter page.

There are many reasons why I wanted to commit my future to Tottenham,’ said Dier.

‘We have a fantastic squad, full of lots of young exciting players, the new stadium is on its way and obviously we have fantastic facilities here at the training ground.

‘Then of course we have a fantastic manager who is great for all of our young players and makes sure we keep improving.’

Dier will make his Champions League debut with Tottenham at Wembley on Wednesday and in the wake of signing his new deal the midfielder expressed his excitement playing in Europe’s top tier.

He added: ‘Wembley being full with 80,000 or more Tottenham fans and to play the Champions League there is very unique. Those two things are going to be fantastic.’

Dier’s new five-year deal comes shortly after Christian Eriksen re-committed himself to Mauricio Pochettino’s team and amid the expectation Harry Kane and Kyle Walker will do similarly.
