South African Act Mandoza Thanks Fans For Their Support As He Battles With Cancer

Mandoza – real name, Mduduzi Tshabalala – is thanking his fans for their prayers as he battles with brain cancer. 

The Kwaito hip-hop artist is famous for his 2000 hit song Nkalakatha.

He relayed his gratitude at a “thank you” concert for SABC, published on the station’s Youtube channel, Saturday, September 10, 2016.

After enduring recurrent pain and bleeding in his right eye, you.co.za reported that in June 2015, Mandoza was diagnosed with a type of skin cancer called squamous cell carcinoma.

According to an article published by the site on September 7, 2016, Mandoza’s wife, Mpho revealed that in August 2016 her husband received new diagnosis that the cancer had returned and was affecting his brain.

About two weeks back he complained on severe headaches and problems with his eye, not the same eye as before and we decided to go see an optometrist.

It was like history was repeating itself because it sounded very similar to the last time. The optometrist couldn’t find anything wrong, but sent him for an MRI scan.

To their horror, the test revealed that the cancer was back. It had developed into a brain tumor. It’s a serious condition but not critical at the moment, so my husband is at home and like before, we believe that we’ll make it through this again.

At some point, all of this does take its toll on you but in all honesty, I’m stronger for it. My faith in the Lord has got me through many things and it will get us through this too, He has managed to provide.

We’ve decided to send out a press release and announce this more publicly because we’ve figured that the more prayers we can get the better.

Regardless speculations trailing Mandoza’s ill health that he might not be performing at some of his shows, you.co.za confirmed the South African artist will still be performing at a scheduled event on 24 September, 2016, at the Orlando Stadium in Orlando Soweto.
