Sunderland are plotting a new bid for Norwich City forward Steven Naismith, according to the Daily Mirror.
Black Cats boss David Moyes, who brought Naismith to Everton in 2012, was close to signing the Scot for the second time this summer, but the deal could not be pushed through.
The Mirror claim Moyes remains keen on bringing Naismith to Wearside and will revive his interest in the 30-year-old, who has fallen out of favour at Carrow Road, once the window reopens in January.
Naismith has slipped out of the plans of manager Alex Neil at the Championship Canaries
He has not even made the matchday squad of 18 for their last two games, against Cardiff and Wigan.
Canaries boss Alex Neil says there has been no falling out with Steven Naismith
“He was in the squad, like Sergi Canos, like Steven Whittaker, they were involved in the squad but unfortunately didn’t make the 18,” Neil said of Naismith. “The bottom line is I’ve got a real strong squad now, everybody’s really back (from injury) and it’s a case of I’ve got to leave three good players out of the matchday squad and unfortunately for those guys, it was them that time.”
