“My Consistency in the Past 12 Years has been for the Love of the Music” – Jaywon

The Belfry Africa Convened weekly conversational series “The Ask Series” held at The Waterside Ikoyi hosted Afro-Pop star Iledare Oluwajuwonlo popularly known as Jaywon. Tagged the ‘music’ edition, Jaywon took the attendees on a very captivating career journey he began 12 years ago.

Speaking at this edition, the singer said, “I am a deep thinker, it helps my creativity when I write my songs.” “Every artiste is a platform on his own,” he added. Speaking about his venture into music, he said, “My mother had always wanted me to be an accountant but I had to follow my dreams; my consistency in the past 12 years has been for the love of the music.”

About what motivated his song ‘Odun yi’, the singer said the idea was to do a celebration song for December as the recording of the song was in November that year. “Late Singer No More Loss was the one who gingered him into making ‘Odun Yi’ a hit,” he further emphasized. He also mentioned that the song ‘Champion’ was to encourage himself at a point when he felt he wasn’t getting what he deserved.

Recognizing personalities who have helped his career so far, the artiste gave a big shout out to Late Goldie for her continual support while she was alive; he also made a shout out to music producer MasterKraft who produced his song “Facebook Love” and “jawo jawo.” Advising the upcoming musicians in the event, he emphasized that every artiste is a platform on his own so they should make good use of their platforms.
