Manolo Marquez has resigned as coach of Las Palmas after less than three months in charge.
Marquez informed the club’s board of his decision on Monday night, a day after a 2-0 home defeat to Leganes left the Canary Islands outfit 15th in La Liga with six points from six games.
Impressive victories at Malaga and at home against Athletic Bilbao had the Canary Island side off to a solid start, but Marquez has handed in his notice following Sunday’s 2-0 defeat to Leganes at the Estadio de Gran Canaria.
Las Palmas great and former Spain international Juan Carlos Valeron will take temporary charge of the first team, alongside Paquito Ortiz.
Manolo Marquez had been given the reins in July as replacement for Quique Setien after helping Las Palmas Atletico win promotion to Segunda Division B last season.
