Sweden head coach Janne Andersson has admitted his frustrations at Victor Lindelof’s situation at Manchester United.

The defender has not played in the Premier League after joining in the summer, and Andersson told P5 Sthlm radio: “It’s a frustrating thing in this job, I cannot influence anything.

“It is clear that over time, I want all our players to play as much as possible, at as high a level as possible. So over time it’s a little unfortunate. But we’ll see, he has played some matches. We hope that he will be even closer to the team.”

Andersson was also asked if he’d “flirted” with Lindelof’s United team-mate Zlatan Ibrahimovic in an attempt to convince the hitman to play for Sweden again.

And he joked: “I do not even flirt with my wife so I can completely deny it.”

Sweden face Luxembourg and Holland in October as they continue their quest to qualify for next summer’s World Cup.

United, meanwhile, resume their Champions League campaign when they visit CSKA Moscow tomorrow night.
