Vincenzo Montella’s position as AC Milan coach is safe for the time being, according to the club’s director of sport Massimiliano Mirabelli.
Milan have dropped to seventh following back-to-back Serie A defeats, with goals from Edin Dzeko and Alessandro Florenzi earning Roma a 2-0 win at San Siro on Sunday.
The big-spending Rossoneri are already nine points behind early leaders Napoli, with pressure mounting on Montella – especially with former Milan boss Carlo Ancelotti available following his sacking by Bayern Munich last week.
Reports in Italy suggest Montella will be axed if he loses his next match – the Milan derby against Inter after the international break.
But Mirabelli told Sky Sports Italia that Montella will be given time to get Milan climbing up the table.
