Henry Onyekuru could be back at Everton by January after a loan spell at Anderlecht, the Liverpool Echo reports.
The 20-year-old did not have much time to pull on a blue shirt before he was sent on loan to the Belgian club due to work permit issues.
Everton are reportedly hoping a “special talent” clause will overcome the permit problems in time to see Henry Onyekuru in the starting XI next year.
Non-EU residents normally have to have played in at least 75 per cent of their country’s international matches over the previous two years.
But in certain circumstances clubs can ask for those rules to be waived if they believe a young talent is good enough.
To satisfy this they must appeal to an FA panel that Onyekuru’s ability is so good he would genuinely add quality to the Premier League.
