Henry Onyekuru has confirmed that he had a meeting with Everton last week over a possible early return to the club as he continued his top form for Anderlecht.
Henry Onyekuru posted a picture on his Instagram account tagging himself in Liverpool city centre last week – sparking rumours that he could be discussing an early return to Mersyside from his loan spell.
The Nigerian international joined the Blues in the summer for a fee believed to be around £7 million, and was immediately sent out on loan to Anderlecht as he didn’t qualify for a UK work permit.
However, reports have suggested that Everton could appeal to the FA’s “exceptions panel” about possible bringing the forward back in January – and Onyekuru seemed to confirm last night that initial talks have taken place at least.
He told Belgian publication La Libre : “Yes, that’s right [had a meeting in Liverpool] and I’m waiting for something. That’s all I can say.
“I hope to be able to play there in January. Everton is happy with my start to the season. But we are not in January and all my concentration is in Anderlecht.”
