The seedings for the European World Cup qualifying playoff draw is now all but confirmed after the conclusion of the group stage this night .

Seeded: Switzerland, Italy, Croatia, Denmark
Unseeded: Northern Ireland, Sweden, Republic of Ireland, Greece

FIFA seeds the eight nations based on its October FIFA Ranking, which will officially be published on Monday, Oct. 16, ahead of the draw, which takes place at 2 p.m. CET (1 p.m. BST) the following day.

Switzerland, Italy, Croatia and Denmark will be the top-ranked teams, and thus seeded. These teams were also the four runners-up who had the best record in group qualifying.

Each seeded nation will be drawn to play an unseeded nation, with the ties to be played between Nov. 9 and 14. The home team in the first leg is also drawn, so the seeded team does not automatically play at home in the second leg.

This essentially means Northern Ireland and Republic of Ireland cannot play each other in the playoffs.
