Joachim Low has lauded his men for their showing in the 3-1 win over Northern Ireland, as Germany secured qualification for next year’s world cup.
The reigning champions have won nine straight qualifying matches and have ensured their qualification, finishing top of their group.
Sebastian Rudy opened the scoring for Germany in the second minute, before Wagner doubled that lead in the 21st minute. And although Northern Ireland scored in the closing stages, it was a consolation as it came after Kimmich’s goal for Die Meinschaft.
“I am satisfied,” Low told reporters afterwards in Belfast.
“We doubled the lead very quickly. In the Czech Republic we took the lead early too but then lost control. That did not happen today.
“We felt on the pitch that we had everything under control in the second half. That’s when we slowed down a little bit.”
