Nigeria’s National Women’s U-20 team, the Falconets, have qualified for the second round of the 2018 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup qualifying series after thrashing their Tanzanian counterparts 6-0 in Dar es Salaam on Sunday.
Four goals in the first half and two in the second half were enough to earn the Falconets the massive win in the second leg of the first round to advance 9-0 on aggregate.
They had recorded a 3-0 win in the first leg tie a fortnight ago in Benin City, Edo State.
Rasheedat Ajibade opened the scoring in the 20th minute before making it a brace for herself six minutes later.
Midfielder Folashade Ijamilusi and big striker Anam Imo registered their names on the score sheet as the first half ended 4-0 in favour of Nigeria.
Ijamilusi and substitute Cynthia Aku netted two more goals to complete the rout.
Nigeria will now face Morocco in the second round of the qualifying series with the Falconets away in the first leg in Rabat.
The second round first leg matches will hold on 3 November while the second leg will take place on 18 November 2017.
Also, the third round first leg holds between 12th and 14th of January 2018 with the second leg between 26th and 28th January 2018.
The ninth edition of the 2018 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup tournament will be hosted by France from 5 August to 28 August, 2018.
