Jorge Sampaoli is certain of Argentina qualifying for the 2018 World Cup in Russia, despite their goalless draw against Peru.
Messi was golden in the match, but Argentina could not penetrate Peru, as the match ended in a stalemate.
The result means Argentina sits sixth on the table, outside of CONMEBOL qualification spot . But Sampaoli is confident of qualifying, as they play Ecuador next and Colombia face Peru, who are fourth and fifth respectively.
“I am still confident that we will be at the World Cup,” he told a news conference.
“Today was a very good game. We just missed a goal. I am very hopeful and excited about what is coming.
“The team never gave up, put in a huge effort and deserved another result.”
