Emre Can insists his contract stand-off with Liverpool is “not about money”.

Emre Can will be a free agent at the end of the season and has been linked with a move to Juventus.

Asked by the Liverpool Echo whether he would still be a Liverpool player next season, Can said: “Why do you ask me this? Really, I concentrate on this season and let my agent handle all the rest.

“It is not about money, that’s all I can say. Yes I could (sign a pre-contract with another club next month), but tomorrow I could also sign for Liverpool. We’ll see.”

Liverpool have refused to include a realistic release clause in Can’s contract leading to talks breaking down between the two parties.

Wednesday night’s 3-0 win at Stoke City was Emre Can’s 100th Premier League appearance for the Reds. He cost the club £9.75million when he joined from Bayer Leverkusen in the summer of 2014.
