While 2017 was a banner year for video games, 2018 has shown signs that it would be much better by the line-up of video games scheduled to be released. From new spins on fan-favorite franchises to a whole bunch of brand new ideas, game developers and publishers have all kinds of exciting projects ready to make their big debuts in 2018.

and we can’t wait to get our hands on every one of them.

Interestingly, the month of January has heralded the release of a number of video games and if 2018 lives up to its potential, it’ll be the year that proves that there’s a game out there for just about everyone.

Dragon Ball FighterZ

This game was released on the 26th of January, 2018. Dragon Ball FighterZ is more than just fan service. It’s a visually stunning fighting game all on its own.

The game doesn’t require you to know the difference between Gokus, Gohans or even the Saiyans from the Shinjins before you are able to appreciate it as much as you appreciated the Marvel vs. Capcom-like three-man tag team structure.

Its Guilty Gear Xrd’s-like cancels, or its Arcana Heart-esque homing system is something that will catch your fancy, especially if you are a fan of Dragon Ball or its numerous spinoffs. One thing that is sure is the fact that you will be able to find at least one of your favorite characters lurking in the game that has a roster that keeps expanding.

Monster Hunter: World

Monster hunter world
Monster Hunter is not that much of a big sensation in the gaming world, perhaps because it has only sold 40 million games since the franchise debut in 2004. More so, the video game still struggles outside of Japan because it doesn’t have that much audience.

Monster Hunter: World which was released January 26, 2018 aims to correct this problem. Like the previous releases, hunters prepare in town before embarking on excursions into the wilderness, where they’ll need to adhere to carefully planned strategies in order to take down the massive and heinous beasts.

Some changes were also made by capcom such as making the game take place in an open and dynamic environment instead of the series of smaller, walled-off areas it was known for before.

Indivisible

Also released in January 2018, this game blends together a Metroidvania-esque mode of world exploration with sly combat reminiscent of 1999’s Valkyrie Profile. It features southeast Asian mythology-inspired plot points and a gorgeous soundtrack by renowned Secret of Mana composer Hiroki Kikuta.

This video game is surely one you don’t want to miss this year.

Dissidia Final Fantasy NT

Dissidia fantasy N
Scheduled to be released on the 30th of January, 2018, this game that has Final Fantasy in the title isn’t a role-playing game. Dissidia Final Fantasy NT is more like the answer Square Enix has been hoping to give to the Super Smash Bros..

This game offers a chance to throw a bunch of fan-favorite Final Fantasy characters together, sort them into teams of three, and let them beat the stuffing out of each other.

While 2018 marks Dissidia Final Fantasy NT’s home debut and the first time the Dissidia series has ever appeared on non-portable consoles, the game has been released since 2015 on Japanese arcades. What this means is that there are lots of information out there that can help you understand and beat the game in record time.
