Governor Mohammed Abubakar of Bauch State on Wednesday, February 7, swore in 20 new commissioners into the State Executive Council.

The governor further charged them to be judicious in the handling of government resources, adding that they should demonstrate exemplary leadership, steadfastness and diligence in their duties.

The governor, at the swearing-in held at the Multipurpose Indoor Sports Hall, Bauchi, said the reconstitution of the cabinet was as a result of the need to inject fresh blood into government business especially as the 2019 general elections approaches.

“As we approach 2019, it is imperative to bring in more experienced and energetic people who will add value to the system and assist in fast-tracking the execution of our policies and programmes for the benefit of the teeming populace who voted us into power,” he said.

The governor said the appointment of the commissioners was based on their loyalty, merit and hard work.

He informed them that their allegiance should rest with the people of Bauchi irrespective of ethnicity, status or religious background.

Abubakar said, “We appointed people with impeccable character, and the choice is on merit. As  the chief executives of your various ministries, I want to draw your attention to the fact that the State Executive Council is the highest body to make policy for the state. You should be above board in all your endeavours and concentrate on the assigned duties.”
