No less than twenty-six fighters of dreaded Boko Haram group have surrendered to the military authorities in Damboa Local Government Area of Borno State.

Channels Television reports that the ‘repentant’ terrorists were paraded on Friday, February 2, in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital, after being quizzed by the military.

It was gathered that they surrendered last week and turned over arms and ammunition including RPGs, after which they were taken to Maiduguri for deradicalizsation.

The news comes barely a few days after the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Tukur Yusuf Buratai, wrote a strong worded poem to Abubakar Shekau, the elusive leader of the dreaded, Islamic death cult, requesting him to either surrender his arms and embrace peace or face perdition.

The friendly warning comes on a day that the Nigerian Army said its troops destroyed Boko Haram’s tactical ground, Camp Zero, in the ongoing clearance operation to dislodge remnants of Boko Haram insurgents in Sambisa Forest.
