Chelsea Tell Tianjin Quanjian To Pay £127m For Diego Costa After Rejecting £90m Bid

Diego Costa will cost a world-record £127m should Chinese Super League clubs want to prise the striker away from Chelsea, according toSFR journalist Johnny Severin.

The report claims Tianjin Quanjian are willing to smash the record fee for the Spanish forward, and are expected to step up their pursuit in summer.

And SFR Sport via GFFN alleges Antonio Conte’s title chasers received a bid worth £90m from the Far East.

Costa was also offered £85m in wages across three years, which is why he pushed for an exit and was subsequently dropped from the team.

Tianjin owner Shu Yuhui confirmed in January that talks had been held between himself and Jorge Mendes, Costa’s agent.

“I made an appointment with Mendes and he came to my hometown to visit me. At that time, we were interested in signing Costa,” he said.

“PSG told us Cavani would only be allowed to leave in June, even though the player himself was willing to join us.

“The same can be said for Costa because Chelsea would only let him leave in June. However, the new season of CSL will almost reach the halfway stage in June, we can’t wait so long.”

Chelsea are claimed to have since offered Diego Costa a lucrative new contract, although it will come nowhere near the money presented by Tianjin.

However, the report adds the Chinese big-spenders could yet land their man – if they shatter the world transfer record.
